Travelers to the Catskills to attend the festival are choosing hotel-free accommodations.
Catskill, NY (PRWEB) August 03, 2012
The third annual Catskill High Peaks Festival August 16-25 will offer 10 days of music, and the arts at multiple venues throughout the historic New York mountaintop towns of Hunter, Tannersville, and Windham. Participants and visitors heading to the Catskills for the event are booking vacation rentals through NYVacationRentals.com.
This year's festival theme is Classical Hollywood, tracing the cross-influences between the concert stage, the Silver Screen, cabaret, the jazz club and the composers who bridged these worlds.
Classic films and music will be featured as Artistic Director Yehuda Hanani has lined up world-class musicians for concerts on August 19 and August 25. Festival artists this year include pianists Michael Chertock and Dianna Andersen, violinist Stefan Milenkovich, cellist Erik Andersen, percussionist Arti Dixson, and bassist James Cammack. Each concert will open with a Prelude Performance Showcase, introducing international festival students participating in the music residency.
Amala Levine returns to lead two literary lectures, "From the Lake District to the Hudson Valley in Poetry and Painting" and "From Berlin to America in Literature, Music and Film," which will complement the summer's theme of art and dislocation. These lectures are scheduled on August 24th and 25th.
Concurrent with the performances, Yehuda Hanani and colleagues lead a residency for 24 cellists, violinists and pianists selected from around the world. Daily master classes are open and free to the public. Join them and gain insight into the interaction between master and young artist.
