The winning award demonstrates excellence in e-publishing. The winning microsite is a culmination of the Apex Awards’ large competition, which drew approximately 3,400 entries across a range of 11 publishing categories.
The Urology Health web page, available online at http://www.dorlandhealth.com/uromed, was created to educate and increase awareness about the urological complications that can occur in lifelong conditions such as spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis and neurogenic bladder. The Dorland Health editorial team worked together with leading professionals to develop articles that would address these conditions and highlight strategies that professionals can implement into their practice to prevent setbacks and life-threatening complications that can put the patient at risk.
The project was developed with support from UroMed, one of the nation’s leading providers of single-use catheters, urological and disposable medical supplies, including intermittent catheters, closed system catheters, condom catheters, pediatric catheters and continence care products.

In addition to the microsite, an e-newsletter was created to share the information to professionals involved in care coordination. Strong waves of feedback for the articles showed the need for information in this area. Continuing education was also a benefit.
