Contrary to popular belief, being tolerant does NOT mean that Christians must deny their own beliefs or affirm or agree with those who have different beliefs. Instead, intolerance is about how Christians treat others with different beliefs.
Plano, TX (PRWEB) August 23, 2012
Changing the Face of Christianity Inc announces a new Bible study addressing Christian intolerance. According to R. Brad White, the organizations founder, "the study first defines what Christian Intolerance is based on independent research with those labeling Christians as intolerant. The study then explains what the Bible says about how Christians should treat others."
Intolerance is the latest addition to Changing the Face of Christianity's negative Christian stereotypes Bible study. The Bible study aims to help Christians be more like Jesus Christ.
R. Brad White continues, "Contrary to popular belief, being tolerant does NOT mean that Christians must deny their own beliefs or affirm or agree with those who have different beliefs. I can't stress this enough. Our research indicates that agreement is NOT what people outside the Christian faith are seeking from Christians."
White says, "Instead, intolerance is about how Christians treat others with different beliefs. For example, the definition of Christian intolerance includes attempting to force our beliefs on others, setting up laws/systems to benefit Christians or exclude benefits from non-Christians, silencing opposing views or denying they exist, treating others as less-than, disowning friends/family with different beliefs, workforce discrimination based on religious beliefs, and condemning others with different beliefs."
R. Brad White believes that Christians can be unwavering in their beliefs, yet avoid such intolerant behavior and attitudes, thereby reversing the negative stereotype over time.
The Bible study, offered as a free PDF download by Changing the Face of Christianity, is now a 6 unit study covering the following negative Christian stereotypes: judgmental, anti-homosexual, hypocritical, too political, superficial, and intolerant. The study can be downloaded here: http://www.changingthefaceofchristianity.com/educate/bible-study-series/
The Bible study encourages open discussion and the sharing of stories about how each participant may be contributing to the negative stereotype. Each study concludes with a call to action, encouraging each participant to work on themselves to reverse the negative stereotype in their own life.
