Aacer Flooring, one of the leading producers of northern hardwood flooring in the United States, has made a flooring donation to the new ProLiteracy building in Syracuse, New York. ProLiteracy is a non-profit organization whose mission champions the power of literacy to improve the lives of adults, their families, and communities. ProLiteracy recently moved into the first phase of the Westside initiative in Syracuse that involves the renovation of an empty warehouse that is over 100 years old.
“We wholly support ProLiteracy’s mission of promoting literacy programs and were impressed by the open, industrial design of their new location,” said Kevin Barker, V.P. of Sales for Aacer Flooring.
“We were happy to donate our northern hardwood maple flooring to ProLiteracy’s LEED certified building,” added Barker.
‘In today’s economic climate ProLiteracy, like many non-profits, survives by the generous donations of individual donors, grants and corporate giving,” said David Harvey, President & CEO of ProLiteracy. “We are extremely grateful to Aacer Flooring for their kind donation of this beautiful maple flooring product” added Harvey.
The headquarters was designed by King & King and Koning Eizenberg Architecture and constructed by Rich and Gardner. Pete King, Managing Partner and CEO of King & King Architects said, “ProLiteracy’s goal and charge to us was to design a LEED-certified building for their world headquarters, and using a renewable resource like Aacer’s maple flooring product was a natural fit for this exciting 1900’s era warehouse adaptive reuse project.”
