While the economic recovery in the United States has been a slow one, manufacturing has helped lead the way with more production and more hiring.

According to statistics provided by Top Echelon Network, an elite network of highly specialized search firms, recruiters are placing more candidates in manufacturing than any other discipline.

Top Echelon Network released its statistics for the second quarter of the year recently, and those numbers indicate that 32.5% of all placements currently being made in the Network are in Industry & Manufacturing.

Since the Network’s inception in 1988, manufacturing has been a strong industry for its recruiters. In addition to Industry & Manufacturing, Top Echelon Network recruiters are also placing a lot of candidates in the following industries:

  •     IT/Information Systems/Data Processing—22.2%
  •     Engineering—14.4%
  •     Sales & Marketing—6.2%

Three industries each accounted for 4.6% of all placements made in Top Echelon Network. Those three were Accounting, Personnel & Human Resources, and Healthcare.

According to Top Echelon Network President Mark Demaree, Industry & Manufacturing has long been a staple for recruiters in the Network and he expects that to be the case in the future.

“Placements in manufacturing have typically accounted for approximately a third of our placements,” said Demaree. “During the first quarter of this year, we experienced a surge in IT placements, to the point where Information Technology and Industry & Manufacturing were neck-and-neck. However, the latter has re-asserted itself as ‘The King of the Hill’ in the Network.”

Top Echelon Network, based in Canton, Ohio, generates statistics each quarter for its Preferred Member recruiters and for distribution through various media outlets.
