The acquisition of Richard’s expertise in effective docking systems solidifies Motion’s commitment to tailored mobility solutions, based on our customers’ specific requirements, which is vital for ongoing success in this competitive market.

Motion Computing®, a leading global provider of tablet PCs and mobile computing solutions, has appointed Richard Abram as Director of Mobility Solutions. Perth-based Abram is an internationally recognised thought leader in docking systems for mobile tablet PCs. These docking systems are essential for the successful roll-out of mobile solutions in rugged environments including mining, construction, healthcare, hospitality and the field service industry in general.

Formerly the Mobility Division Director of Tempus Developments Pty Ltd., Abram is an industry veteran and expert in in-vehicle solutions for tablets for a diverse range of customers. While with Tempus, Abrams was the key designer responsible for the development and manufacture of a locking vehicle dock, which is now owned, produced and marketed by Motion as the C5/F5-Series Mobile Dock with Key Lock and sold through Motion’s network of value-added resellers and distributors worldwide.

In this newly created role, Abram will lead a global team to drive the delivery of Motion® in-vehicle and other peripheral docking solutions, which will be designed in Australia for distribution worldwide. For Motion, this is a critical next step as the company continues to expand its leadership position in delivering solutions that improve mobile usability and productivity. In addition, Abram will oversee Motion partner-developed docking solutions, including those delivered through National Products, Inc. (NPI), the developer of RAM® Mounts that are available for Motion’s complete line of tablet PCs.

“The ability to provide complete mobile computing solutions that expand the usability of our tablet PCs is a key requirement for the majority of our customers, ensuring maximum business results in terms of increased productivity,” said John Amundson, vice president of peripheral development at Motion. “The acquisition of Richard’s expertise in effective docking systems solidifies Motion’s commitment to tailored mobility solutions, based on our customers’ specific requirements, which is vital for ongoing success in this competitive market.”

From in-vehicle mounts to docking solutions, wall mounts, carrying cases and accessories, Motion delivers a variety of peripheral solutions that suit the specific needs of today’s mobile workers across the field service, healthcare and retail industries.
