The Lion King has arrived in Houston Texas and is proving to be a huge hit as it continues on its nationwide tour. With shows sold out through August 12, secondary market leader CheapSeatsTickets.com is now offering free standard shipping on every Lion King order for its H-town customers.
“It’s always tricky to get tickets for a traveling Broadway production like The Lion King because most people don’t know to buy tickets until the show is already in town,” said CheapSeatsTickets owner Matthew Brenner. “Take Sunday’s 6:30 performance, there is only one seat left through Ticketmaster…one seat! But we have a selection in just about every section still available. So we thought we’d extend free shipping as an incentive to our loyal customers.”
For a limited time, CheapSeatsTickets customers can save using the checkout code SimbaHouston. The code gives everyone free shipping on their order.
Traveling shows like the Lion King are often bundled with other Broadway hits and sold as a season package. Most of the tickets are sold before the general public even knows the show is coming to town. But even season ticket holders can’t attend every show and many place their tickets for sale through the secondary market.
“A lot of people frown on the secondary market but in a practical sense, it really satisfies a market,” insisted Brenner. “Right now, I can get tickets for a show two days away and sit in the very first row, and that’s pretty cool.”
Ticket prices on the secondary market can sometimes price higher than the face value but many times are competitive or even less than what the box office is asking. We priced that single ticket for Sunday and it’s running $155. We were able to find seats closer, and as a pair, through CheapSeatsTickets at $156 a piece.
The show is playing at the Sarofim Hall Hobby Center in Houston with dates running from August 5 through August 12. Legally Blonde the musical comes to town in September. Look for CheapSeatsTIckets discounts on upcoming Houston concert, sports and theater events.
