As Black developed the concept for the reception area of the 21,000 square foot CRUNCH flagship gym in New York City he sought to capture their brand image with an emotional touch-point. While the design community was being swept by either the minimalist version of boutique design, or the orchid-in-a-vase-on-the-reception-desk cliché...he endeavored to embrace CRUNCH’S business model with a modern version of a classical design feature - a 25 foot diameter concave dome over the reception area.
