Armed with over 80 years of life experience and a great dose of common sense, author Barbara Leitner Essig shares to readers practical tips and advices about everyday living in her newly published book, titled THE G.O. BOOK: Grandma’s Observations. Essig’s work, which may not have passed any scientific tests but has definitely passed the test of life, springs from her unique three R’s.

“I believe the world would be a much better place if everyone followed the three R’s. My three R’s are: Respect for yourself; Respect for others; and Respect for property,” says Essig. “Plus, you have to accept responsibility for your actions and be accountable for them. The other three R’s are very important too: Readin’, ’Ritin’, and ’Rithmetic. That’s education.”

Essig pens a book that is all about helping people to be more informed about their everyday lives doing every day things. She shares mostly common sense and advice. She has written about the many things that she has encountered in her life of 80 plus years. She believes that all people have good times and bad times, and they must accept them, adjust to them, and move on. She believes there is always hope if people follow her three R’s.

Interestingly organized, THE G.O. BOOK: Grandma’s Observations is arranged in a “room to room” fashion in the beginning, rather than in chapters, then by subjects, and occasionally interspersed with a joke, a riddle, or trivia. This may not be the type of book that readers sit down and read for hours on end. It needs to be read a little at a time, digested well, and assimilated gradually to benefit from its precious advice.

This book will be featured at the 2012 Illinois Library Association Book Exhibit in Peoria, Ill. on October 9-12, 2012.
