An upcoming WPL Publishing webinar will offer a wide variety of professionals advice about how they can use construction cost control as an effective project management tool. Delivering the advice will be William Kerns, founder of Pittsburgh-based Construction Turnaround Consultants.
Out-of-the box construction-cost reports typically provide information about project budgets, costs to date, and remaining budgets, but they do not indicate whether projects are in trouble until it is too late. For a job-cost report to be used as an effective tool for managing a project and related risks, it needs to include the right information. The webinar, entitled “How to Use Construction Cost Control as an Effective Project Management Tool,” is designed to help various professionals optimize their use of cost-related information for their projects. To register for the 90-minute webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. (EDT), visit http://tinyurl.com/bvtdg67.
Professionals attending the webinar will gain a thorough understanding of the following:
- What is missing from standard reporting packages.
- The key elements of an effective cost-control system.
- How to use cost data to detect the early warning signs of troubled projects.
- What a job-cost report should indicate as early as 10 percent.
- Practical cost-control protocols to assist in change-order negotiations.
- How these tools can make for more credible financial reporting.
