The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission is the official host organization for the 2013 event. Shreveport-Bossier was selected as host community for 2013 as a result of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission’s efforts, beginning with meetings at the National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) Sports Event Symposium, held in Hartford, CT in April 2012. The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission is a division of the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau in partnership with the City of Shreveport, Caddo Parish Commission, the City of Bossier City and the Bossier Parish Police Jury.
“The FLW always enjoys coming to the Shreveport-Bossier area and building on that relationship, we were able to secure their biggest annual event,” said Kelly Wells, vice president of sports and tourism marketing for the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau. “The entire FLW staff is top-notch to work with and they care about our community and how their event impacts the area. We knew going into negotiations that the event needed to be a fit for both sides, and we feel we were able to achieve that. The Sports Commission is excited to bring another high-quality event that the entire community can enjoy and rally behind.”
As a host community, Shreveport-Bossier offers an exceptional variety of entertainment options for fans, including many major attractions located on or near the Red River. Casino action at six riverboat casinos and a thoroughbred racetrack, shopping and dining at the Louisiana Boardwalk, hands-on fun at Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center and numerous hotels within a 10-minute drive of the event are just a few of the reasons why fans of professional fishing will not want to miss the 2013 Forrest Wood Cup.
