Wick Phillips Gould & Martin, LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices in Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin, Texas, announces the addition of Eric Van Horn as an associate in its Dallas location. Van Horn, the newest member of the firm’s Bankruptcy Litigation group, will focus on all aspects of complex business bankruptcy, reorganization, liquidation and litigation matters in state and federal courts.
“Wick Phillips has a strong and successful bankruptcy practice, which has included representing trustees, committees and significant creditors and equity owners in complex cases, and will continue to expand in reflection of the needs of our clients,” said Todd Phillips, partner of Wick Phillips. “Eric brings a solid, diverse background to our practice, which makes him an asset to the bankruptcy litigation team as we continue growing the business reorganization and liquidation areas of our firm."
Prior to joining Wick Phillips, Van Horn practiced as a business bankruptcy and litigation associate at an international law firm and a bankruptcy boutique in Dallas. He has represented chapter 11 debtors, trustees, financial institutions, committees, landlords, and unsecured creditors in complex bankruptcy cases in the oil and gas, manufacturing, real estate, and restaurant industries, among others. These cases have included Section 363 asset sales, plan confirmation, lease rejections, claims objections and fraudulent transfer and preference litigation. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Leif M. Clark, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division.
He is a frequent speaker and author on bankruptcy issues, and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and coordinating editor of the ABI Journal, member of the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section, chair of its Young Lawyers Committee, and editor of the Bankruptcy Section Newsletter.
Van Horn earned his B.A., magna cum laude from The University of Texas-Dallas, and his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law where he served as a research assistant for Professor Jay L. Westbrook, advocate on the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court team, and member of the Texas International Law Journal.
