iFlightsimulatorgames.com, the leading independent resource for fans of flight simulation games, is warning gamers to beware of a new scam being operated by several rogue traders and deceptive sources listing the ProFlightSimulator Flight Simulation game for sale online.

iFlightsimulatorgames.com has been contacted by a number of angry consumers in recent weeks, say they have been cheated by online stores posing as reputable software traders. In one case, Louis Tichenor, a 38-year-old gamer who wanted to experience the real-life thrill of flying a plane in his own living room, decided to purchase ProFlightSimulator for $125 from a little-known online store.

Sadly for Tichenor, despite the description in the online listing matching up his system, by the time he received the software from the mail, it turned out that the game in question was too large for his computer and work.

In addition, Tichenor told iflightsimulatorgames.com that the package arrived without any contact number or address for the company bought it from. Instead, Tichenor’s only recourse was to contact online store again. Yet after four unsuccessful attempts he is yet to receive a reply from them.

In desperation, Tichenor got in touch with iflightsimulatorgames.com and told them of his plight.

Following an investigation, iflightsimulatorgames.com came across several similar cases involving the same online store, as well as other day companies that also trade in dodgy software.

Dan Lim, editor of iflightsimulatorgames.com, warmed gamers that they should only buy software titles from reputable traders on official websites, or else from websites like eBay, where they can check the feedback from sellers:

“Tichenor’s case is not the first we have seen, and we're sure it won't be the last. This is a common scam – rogue traders make an official website and set up an authentic looking store, before selling dodgy software to unsuspecting consumers.”

“There have been several cases reported to us in the last few months, so we're advising consumers to only purchase software from websites that they can trust. This includes either official manufacturer’s websites, or trusted platforms such as eBay, where the feedback of sellers can be carefully reviewed.”
