Let It Go Yoga is proud to announce that “Yoga by Teens,” a yoga class designed and taught by and for teenagers, is now available as a universal app, for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The app streams video using wireless or cellular data, and is airplay enabled.
Join teens Lauren, Emily and Jessica Parsons as they teach basic hatha yoga poses that are both fun and challenging. Yoga helps build strength and flexibility, and – especially critical for teenagers – develops self-confidence and self-esteem. The “Yoga by Teens” message is that yoga is for all ages and levels of ability, including people with special needs.
Filmed in beautiful Santa Barbara, California, this yoga practice can be done as a forty-minute class or in three shorter segments, featuring standing, seated and floor poses. Lauren, Emily and Jessica Parsons are sisters whose parents, Sue Anne and Jim Parsons, have taught yoga for more than 26 years. The girls grew up practicing yoga and have taken certified yoga teacher training.
Sue Anne says that “Yoga is a non-competitive, fun way for teens to stay in shape, as well as a way for siblings and friends to share quality time together”.
The girls are at differing levels, and demonstrate modifications and the use of blocks, belts and blankets. In the introduction, the sisters discuss the fact that yoga does not come easily, but requires dedication and practice.
Lauren opens the class with a meditation and then leads the girls through poses starting with diaphragmatic breathing. Lauren and Emily take turns teaching as the class moves from floor poses up to standing postures, then to seated poses and a final guided relaxation. Jessica (who has Down Syndrome) is fully included and demonstrates all the poses.
The “Yoga by Teens” iPad and iPhone app also includes a Yoga Tips section where each pose in the class is shown with additional instruction. Find the “Yoga By Teens” app in the Apple Store under “Health & Fitness”
