Cabela’s Incorporated, the World’s Foremost Outfitter® of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, will officially open the doors to its first Cabela’s Outpost Store – a new and innovative concept – at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 in Union Gap, Wash., a suburb of Yakima.
Grand Opening will be part of a weekend-long celebration featuring outdoor celebrities, giveaways, sweepstakes, family events and more.
The 40,000-square-foot store will be an anchor of Washington Plaza, a new shopping center located on East Washington Avenue adjacent to the Valley Mall, which is home to more than 55 specialty stores and merchants, including Kohl’s, Macy’s and Sears. It is Cabela’s third Washington store, joining the Lacey location opened in 2007 and the Tulalip location opened in 2012.
Cabela’s Outposts will feature the same quality products and legendary customer service for which Cabela’s is famous, and are designed for efficiency, flexibility and convenience. They will feature cutting edge digital signage and a Core-Flex floor plan offering seasonal product assortments. With a rugged, outdoor look and theme, Cabela’s Outposts will include trophy wildlife and outdoor memorabilia displays.
Customers will be treated to the unique Cabela’s shopping experience with access to all Cabela’s merchandise via online order kiosks, as well as free shipping to Cabela’s Outposts with an In-Store Pickup program. In-Store Pickup allows customers to order Cabela’s gear ahead of time and pick it up at their convenience at the store of their choice.
“Since we first announced plans to open this store – the first Cabela’s Outpost in our more than 50 years of business – we’ve had this day marked on the calendar, when the doors finally open,” said Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer Tommy Millner. “It’s an exciting and innovative concept, completely new to Cabela’s, and Union Gap is the perfect place to roll it out. Most importantly, this Cabela’s Outpost will allow us to better serve the many passionate outdoorsmen and women across Washington state and the entire region.”
In addition to the Union Gap location, Cabela’s has announced plans to open a Cabela’s Outpost in Saginaw, Mich., in 2013. The company plans to open next-generation stores in Charleston, W.Va., and Rogers, Ark., this summer, as well as Columbus, Ohio; Grandville, Mich.; Louisville, Ky.; Thornton, Colo.; Lone Tree, Colo.; and Green Bay, Wis., in 2013. Cabela’s recently announced plans for a next-generation store in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2014.
Currently, Cabela’s operates 37 stores across the United States and Canada.
