Karaoke Heroes will feature a main bar area and stage for all types of singers, as well as three self-contained, sound-proofed rooms – karaoke “boxes” – for private groups.

A fully-stocked bar, featuring craft beers, and sushi menu are planned.

Karaoke Heroes, soon to be New Haven’s newest bar, is now hiring, the management team announced today.

“We are looking for experienced, energetic, and friendly individuals to join our service team,” said Andrew Lebwohl, owner and CEO of Karaoke Heroes.

When it opens in August, Karaoke Heroes will be Connecticut’s first dedicated Karaoke bar.

Located at 212 Crown Street, New Haven, in the heart of the city’s club district, Karaoke Heroes will feature a main bar area and stage for all types of singers, as well as three self-contained, sound-proofed rooms – karaoke “boxes” – for private groups.

“A good voice is not necessarily a requirement for prospective employees, but dependability and professionalism is,” Lebwohl said. “We also want our staff to enjoy having fun and interacting with our guests.”

Lebwohl is looking to hire three servers and three bartenders for evenings Monday through Saturday (Karaoke Heroes will be closed Sundays.) Qualified candidates are encouraged to call 203-848-8854 to arrange an interview. Applicants must be 21 years of age or over.

A fully-stocked bar, featuring craft beers, and sushi menu are planned.

Karaoke was brought to the United States some twenty years ago from its native Japan, where it is the typical entertainment for business gatherings after the work day. The word karaoke is an abbreviation of "kara" (from the word "karappo," meaning empty), and "oke" ("okesutura," or orchestra).

A karaoke fan from age eight, Lebwohl has performed karaoke on four continents, and won the first round of the New York City trials for the National Karaoke Championship in 2011. He has also sung with several a cappella groups.

Karaoke Heroes has a fantastical “superheroes” theme that will incorporate action heroes into its décor and servers’ outfits. Original artwork by an artist from Marvel Comics will adorn the interior.

A grand opening launch is planned for late August.

Karaoke Heroes is Connecticut’s first dedicated Karaoke Bar, located at 212 Crown Street, New Haven, through the walkway. In addition to its spacious and fun-filled bar area and singers’ stage, it features three soundproofed “karaoke box” rooms for intimate groups in the true Japanese karaoke style. Participants can choose from a menu of over 5,000 song tracks as well as songs in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Spainish. Karaoke Heroes is available for bookings of private parties and functions on weekday and weekend afternoons. For more information: 203-848-8854.
