Kernersville, NC (PRWEB) August 07, 2012

Automotive News, a trade publication that expanded its readership through a digital version of the popular magazine, announced their list of the Top 40 Under 40 automotive retail specialists. North Carolina native Adam Parks, who took over as President of Parks Chevrolet and Parks Mazda in 2010 when his father died of lung cancer, was thrilled to learn he had made the prestigious list.

Parks, the youngest of 7 siblings took over 2 of the 20 dealerships, in Kernersville and High Point respectfully, that Parks owns as part of the Parks-Michael Automotive Group. Parks, who took over at only 26 years old, had the responsibility of ensuring the stores’ success during very difficult economic times. Parks had to meet the challenges of a changing industry without the decades of experience and wisdom that his father Hubert Parks would have been able to offer him. Longtime business partner and nearby Ford dealer, Junie Michael, remarks about Parks’ leadership, "He had to take the bull by the horns and really lead. He didn't have a choice, and he didn't have time to sit back."

Under Parks’ direction, the Chevrolet dealership began a year-long renovation project that forced the consumer sales and service teams to relocate inventory and day-to-day operations to a temporary storefront. A former Lexus showroom currently serves as Parks Chevy’s provisional dealership as Parks eagerly awaits renovation completion scheduled for Fall 2012.

Parks is still celebrating the news that the Parks Mazda dealership in High Point was awarded the prestigious President’s Award earlier this year. The award is given to dealerships for outstanding sales and service performance.

When asked, Parks is quick to attribute his success to the trust of his staff and to the support of his siblings, many of whom currently hold or have previously held positions within the dealerships over the years. Parks remarks about the future, “I’m excited about what we’ve achieved as a team and look forward to leading and growing the dealerships with the continued support of my staff, family and the business community. I’m proud to move my father’s legacy forward.”

Hundreds of eligible candidates nationwide applied for a spot on the Top 40 Under 40 list. Many have owned their dealerships for years and have achieved high honors within the industry. Parks is also the only automotive retail specialist selected for the list from North Carolina, a market that has seen an uptick in sales over the past year.
