La Quinta Inns & Suites Strengthens Brand, Improves Hiring Quality and Reduces Turnover with Pre-Hire Assessments from Assess Systems

Customized assessment tool helps identify core hospitality competencies and aids in attracting and hiring candidates that share company's core values

LQ Management L.L.C. saw reduced turnover and experienced greater hiring confidence after partnering with Assess Systems to deliver pre-hire assessments for front desk positions to its 820 corporate and franchise hotels.

As La Quinta clearly defined its core values, the organization recognized a need to ensure they were attracting and hiring front desk candidates who shared those same values. Assess Systems worked closely with La Quinta to determine which competencies candidates would need to be successful at the hotel chain. Assess then customized a pre-hire assessment to measure those competencies.

Data from the past four months reveals a four percent decrease in turnover for front desk positions, which translates to an expected 12 percent annualized decrease. Significantly, La Quinta has seen a dramatic decrease in separations due to violation of company policy, poor performance and misconduct.
