Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) August 09, 2012

The Military and Veterans Discount Center (MVDC) is offering businesses the opportunity to post deals and discounts for military personnel and veterans at no cost from now until Veterans Day. One of the largest military and veteran discount directories on the web, “MVDC currently has over 236,000 businesses nationwide listed,” said Terrence Thomas, founder of MVDC. “This number, however, just scratches the surface of the number of discounts that are out there. Our goal is to get 1 million or more businesses to list their discounts, and show their support for the men and women who have answered the call to serve our country”.

Adding a discount is easy

Businesses that want to list their discounts can do so by completing the two minute add a discount form. The listings will only have an expiration date if the actual offer has a designated expiration. The website currently receives over 120,000 viewers per month. The number is expected to continue to climb as military personnel, particularly veterans, actively seek businesses and retailers that appreciate their service.

Thank our troops and eliminate confusion

MVDC reports that 38 states have passed legislation, or have pending legislation, to add a veteran designation to drivers' licenses as proof of eligibility for discounts. A recurring problem, however, is many business owners that are unfamiliar with the nuances of the military and its different classifications are turning some veterans away for military discounts. “Our users refer to this confusion as the discount “diss,” " explains Thomas, a veteran. "While we do not believe that anyone should feel entitled to discounts, our goal is to eliminate the confusion regarding who is eligible and which locations are participating by becoming the de facto clearinghouse for this information”. By encouraging businesses to add discounts, much of this confusion will be eliminated. MVDC is free for active duty, veterans, dependents, retirees, and reservists. For a limited time, it is free for businesses to list their discounts.
