Partnership will bring unprecedented communication and collaboration to the provider-patient relationship.

Through a new partnership with Vitalz (Tampa, Florida), the physician members of The Independent Physician Association of America (TIPAAA) will now have access to technology that enables them to better communicate with patients and collaborate with fellow providers throughout their communities – transparently and securely. The Vitalz patient-physician portal is designed to tie together the disparate systems managing clinical data, personal health records, social networks and transaction services for the benefit of the provider-patient relationship, and for improved patient care.

Uniquely, the Vitalz portal supports single sign-on to other vendor portals for referrals and patient communications, and can provide a vendor-neutral portal for clients using any standards-based EMR. The Vitalz solution also can help practices get connected to private, regional and state Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) using industry standard integration protocols. According to David Weathers, President of Vitalz, “Ease of use was a critical component of the system’s design. We recognize that providers are being tasked with an ever-increasing number of administrative responsibilities. This platform allows them to maximize their administrative time so they can focus on what they do best – take care of their patients.”

Ultimately, the solution is highly patient-centric. Added Weathers, “Through improved communication and greater accessibility to patients, providers will see increased referrals and enhanced patient loyalty – neither of which can be taken for granted in today’s competitive healthcare environment.”

The Vitalz Platform improves operational efficiencies and supports the IPA’s goals for attaining Meaningful Use compliance. It is certified for Stage 1 Meaningful Use through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) for timely access to patient information, and has implemented rigorous security standards to insure the privacy and security of the data in the network

According to Al Holloway of TIPAAA, “The Vitalz solution is the ideal fit for the IPAs in our association. With the variety of technologies in the market and within the IPAs themselves, our members can leverage this tool to consolidate their efforts and achieve a level of collaboration and patient engagement currently not available to them.”

The IPA Association of America (TIPAAA) is the leading trade association serving Independent/Integrated Physician Associations (IPAs). Founded in 1994 in Northern California, TIPAAA provides a wide range of products, services and educational programs designed to help IPAs operate effectively and successfully in managed care. The association has nearly 677 IPAs, chapters in 39 states (with others under development) and represents more than 303,000 physicians affiliated with IPAs. For more about TIPAAA, visit
