Text Marketer Survey Reveals Consumer Attitudes to SMS Marketing

Bulk SMS providers Text Marketer have released the results of their in-depth survey into consumer attitudes towards SMS Marketing.

The SMS Company commissioned a large survey over a three month period asking 1,368 participants for their views on receiving and responding to text messages from businesses and corporations. The conclusions from this research will be used to help mobile marketers shape their SMS marketing strategies in the future.

One of the key findings revealed by the study is that surprisingly few companies are using SMS marketing as part of their overall business strategy. In contrast to the perception that consumers are being bombarded by marketing texts, 61% of people have received 3 or fewer marketing texts in the past month.

Crucially, Text Marketer's survey results also revealed that 48% of people are likely to respond to an offer sent to them via text and 68% of people would like to receive discount text offers from a company they have previously purchased from. As a result, it’s clear that companies and brands should be taking advantage of SMS marketing to entice customers and bring in additional revenue.

Consumers feel that engagement via text by offering discounts and promotions is a great way to help them connect with a business. The survey revealed that 84% of respondents would like to receive text reminders for appointments, while 89% would appreciate delivery reminders. Again, this highlights where businesses could be missing out on their customer service and communication.
