The acquisition follows closely behind the announcement made earlier this year by WPP to enter the services market.

Worldwide Power Products (WPP), a power-generation equipment provider to industrial clients worldwide, today formally announced its acquisition of the assets and operations of EPM Services, Inc., a 22-year old provider of gas and diesel generator maintenance services to building owners and property managers in the Houston area. The acquisition follows closely behind the announcement made earlier this year by WPP to enter the services market.

EPM Services has maintained hundreds of generators across the Houston market including those providing backup power for professional athletic stadiums and many of the downtown office buildings dotting the Houston skyline. Now those same generators will be serviced by WPP.

“We’re pleased with this opportunity to acquire both the customers and the talented service personnel from EPM Services as it will allow us to more quickly expand our services division and provide Houston area generator owners with a much needed service,” said WPP Executive VP Mark Lum.

Houston has one of the largest generator footprints in the U.S. because of the frequency of power interruption due to storms and brown outs.

“In today’s economy, businesses cannot afford an unexpected interruption in their business so they rely on backup power supply to maintain continuity,” stated WPP Executive VP Mark Lum. “Unfortunately, generators are like cars and require regular maintenance to keep them operating. Simply owning but not maintaining a generator is not a sufficient business continuity plan and can result in an unpleasant surprise in the face of a power outage.”

Houston-area businesses will now be able to purchase as well enter regular service agreements for generators with WPP.
