Connor Sport Court Bolsters Sustainability Efforts

Expanding on its focus on the community and the environment, Connor Sport Court has created a position dedicated solely to sustainability efforts and named Jason Gasperich as Director of Sustainability. The company has long maintained a strong commitment to environmentally conscious business practices. All Connor Sport Court’s manufacturing plants are certified as “Zero Waste” and the company offers several products made from recycled materials. With the addition of Gasperich, Connor Sport Court will build upon its past sustainability efforts and identify new ways to reduce its impact on the environment.

With the addition of Gasperich, Connor Sport Court will build upon its past sustainability efforts and identify new ways to reduce its impact on the environment.

“Recycling, avoiding waste and developing innovative technology to minimize our environment footprint are a major part of Connor Sport Court’s corporate policy, but we are always looking for ways to take things to the next level,” stated Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International. “Jason’s strong understanding of green business practices, as well as the company’s manufacturing procedures and product offerings as an existing employee, made him the ideal choice to fill this newly created position.”

As Director of Sustainability, Gasperich will work to introduce new programs centered around community involvement and environmental awareness; maintain compliance with Connor Sport Court’s existing certifications and credentials, as well as pursue new certifications and credentials where appropriate; and collaborate with the company’s technical and R&D departments to ensure that new products are evaluated from a sustainability perspective early in their development.

In 2010, Gasperich earned a LEED Green Associate credential, which recognizes his fundamental knowledge of LEED and green building, as well as a commitment to sustainability. In 2012, he served as an educational session reviewer for Greenbuild conferences including Greenbuild, Legal Summit, National Affordable Green Homes and Sustainable Communities Summit, Green Jobs Summit and Residential Summit. Gasperich also has background in the construction management industry, having worked in that field for eight years prior to joining Connor Sport Court.

Connor Sport Court was the first member of the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA) to introduce environmentally conscious Smartwood maple flooring certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, an organization that promotes responsible management of the world’s forests. The company was also the first MFMA member to incorporate recycled, re-bonded polyurethane foam cushioning into the construction of resilient hardwood sports flooring. Connor Sport Court is the only MFMA member with a LEED Green Associate certified professional on staff.
