Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Wiregrass Electric Cooperative.
Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) provides electric service to over 22,000 consumer-members in Houston and Geneva Counties in Alabama and parts of Dale, Coffee and Covington Counties with almost 4,000 miles of line and an average of 5.69 meters per mile. WEC purchases wholesale power from PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, a generation and transmission cooperative of which Wiregrass Electric is a member/owner. WEC is a member of the Alabama Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
The new system features Survalent’s highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: Worldview, Command Sequencing, Event Data Recorder, SCADA Add-In, IED Wizard, Control Panel, System Configuration Status, Voltage Reduction, Power Factor Control, SCADA Replicator, Multispeak, WebSurv, and Remote Alarm Annunciation.
“Survalent is pleased to have Wiregrass Electric Cooperative join our family of customers,” states Steve Strauss, Vice President of Sales for the Eastern United States. “Wiregrass is using Survalent smart grid applications in their deployment of SCADA. They will also be using our advanced web technology to increase the value of SCADA to their organization.”
