The local council offers valuable support to business start-ups and Deal is certainly a promising area in which to set up a new company.

Deal: Seaside town Deal may have lost out on the bid to become a Mary Portas Pilot Town, but this week sees good news for the area with record net growth in the number of new companies formed during Q2. The town experienced net growth of 27 new companies, beating all other quarters on record.

The team who put together the Portas bid will continue to focus on improving Deal, working on non-capital essential projects to bring vibrancy to the town. They will also bid for large sums of money for bigger jobs.

Councillor Ian Killbery, a member of the team, said:

“The next step is to work out exactly what our priorities are going to be. There are certain sorts of funding we can go for but they all take time and effort to apply for – we appreciated just how much with the Portas bid.”

For new businesses in the area, the Expansion East Kent scheme has £35 million available in the form of interest-free loans. The aim of the fund is to invest in Kent and create jobs.

Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:

“Deal may be a relatively small town but the record level of net growth in number of new companies speaks well of the area. The local council offers valuable support to business start-ups and Deal is certainly a promising area in which to set up a new company.”

Deal is a town that is committed to growing and developing, and the record net rise in number of new companies shows great promise for the future.
