Competing against thousands of corporations large and small, AutohausAZ recently proved that size doesn't matter in the American Business Stevie® Awards competition when it was awarded the Bronze Medal for Company of the Year - Automotive and Transport Equipment, finishing just behind Ford Motor Company (gold medal) and Polaris Industries (silver medal) and ahead of more than 3,000 nominated organizations of all sizes and industries.
How is it possible for a small business to compete with such sizeable manufacturing corporations? Although small businesses' revenues may be individually minor when compared to "the big boys", their impact as a group on the economy is major. Unlike large corporations, small businesses form the majority of exporters to other countries, and they employ more than 50% of all workers in the private sector. Small businesses typically employ fewer than 500 people and offer exceptional job opportunities to all Americans. Without them and the risks they take, the nation and its economy would be vastly different than it is today.
In a recent ADP Employment Report, small business' impact on job creation was profound. Of the 132,000 new private-sector jobs ADP recorded as being created during May 2012, 67,000 were created by firms with fewer than 49 workers. In addition, 57,000 more jobs were created in firms with 52 to 499 workers. In total, small businesses accounted for more than 93% of jobs created during May 2012. In comparison, only 9,000 jobs were created by firms with 500 or more workers. (Focus 2012 study)
