August 14, 2012, kettlebell trainer Lorna Kleidman reacts to an article published in Windsor Star which suggests that although teenagers today are enthusiastic about the Olympic Games, their own fitness and health routines are suffering.
According to the article, in general, regardless of location, teenagers across the planet are not getting the amount of exercise they need. While people across the globe are exhilarated by the incredible athleticism of the XXX Olympic Games, it appears that very few teenagers are feeling inspired by the fitness and poise of the various athletes. The article states, “Teens aged 13 to 15 should be exercising at least 60 minutes a day to stay healthy.”
Lorna Kleidman, creator of the kettlebell exercise program KettleX, supports the awareness the article creates. Kleidman believes that, “Fitness should be a part of life at every age. An effective exercise routine can transform much more than the physique, but also mental acuity and overall health, for anyone. Teenagers can experience tremendous benefits from exercise and Kettlebell training is an easy, reliable and effective way for any age bracket to take advantage of these benefits.” According to Kleidman, “Kettlebells aren’t simply weights, they are a transformational tool. Using kettlebells is a fun way to combine resistance training with cardio to create amazing, lasting results in less time. We should be giving our youth the opportunity and inspiration to grow strong, fit, and healthy.”
The Windsor Star article expresses that teenagers tuning into the Olympics should feel inspired and empowered by the determined and devoted athletes that are going for the gold. Their hard work and dedication should be enough to inspire teenagers to hop off the coach and start making better choices for their health and fitness.
