We highly encourage our employees to attend community events such as this one, and we hope that even more Tampa Bay businesses will get involved

Nationwide Title Clearing, a leading national privately-owned service provider to the mortgage and financial industries, played an instrumental role Saturday, August 4, by working with the Dunedin Blue Jays to help Fight for a Cure for cancer.

For the past three years, the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball Club, has supported the American Cancer Society’s Fight for a Cure Night, and this year Nationwide Title Clearing also came to bat by sending many of its own employees to support the charitable event. Nationwide Title Clearing has already raised nearly $33,000 since 2010 for the American Cancer Society (ACS).

“We highly encourage our employees to attend community events such as this one, and we hope that even more Tampa Bay businesses will get involved,” said John Hillman, CEO for Nationwide Title Clearing.

Fight for a Cure Night was a free event for current cancer patients, cancer survivors, and their families, and pitted the Dunedin Blue Jays against the Daytona Cubs. Some highlights of the night included a pre-game lap around the field for all patients and survivors, a player and mascot autograph session, and a silent auction with all proceeds going to cancer research. The evening was also a Junior Jays night that included many activities for children, including a kids’ zone and getting to run the bases. Grayson Kamm from CBS Channel 10 was the master of ceremonies for the event.

The Blue Jays wore and autographed purple commemorative jerseys, which were auctioned off to benefit the American Cancer Society. Other fundraisers for the ACS were also held throughout the evening. Florida Blood Services was on hand with their Blood Mobile to receive donations. The Blood Mobile was parked very visibly in front of the stadium.

NTC has already committed to participating in the 2013 Relay for Life.
