“Just because Mama Bluebird is stern with Bluey, doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him,”
SANDYS PARISH, Bermuda (PRWEB) August 13, 2012
Combining a light-hearted, fun story with colorful illustrations and an educational message, Judith Nell Taylor-Dill delivers her new children’s storybook “I Can Fly!” (published by AuthorHouse).
“I Can Fly!” is the story of a young bluebird named Bluey. Bluey is a mischievous bird who doesn’t understand his mother’s way of protecting him, and he often mistakes her cautionary guidance as pointless rules. When he doesn’t take her seriously, he ends up putting himself, his mother and his friends in grave danger by crossing into the Brown’s yard and crosses paths with the neighbor’s cat, Kitty.
“I Can Fly!” is Taylor-Dill’s representation of the idea of consequential behavior. “Consequential behavior is the behavior to understand that when we listen to our parents, we have a better chance in not having to go through the pain of hurting oneself and others that we dearly love,” she explains. “It is thinking first.”
In the story, when Bluey fails to heed his mother’s warnings, he finds trouble. As he reflects on his decision to ignore his mother’s advice, he laments his disobedience and considers what steps he will need to take to get himself out of trouble and to make things right with himself, his mother and his friends.
Taylor-Dill hopes children take away a valuable lesson from “I Can Fly!” “Just because Mama Bluebird is stern with Bluey, doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him,” she explains. “On the contrary, it means she cares and adores him very much and wants to see him do well in his future.”
