Reaching back to her childhood and remembering her Irish-American father telling tales of the little people, author Patricia A. Richardson invites young readers into the magical world of leprechauns with the release of her new picture book, Michael O’Hara and Friends to the Rescue. Made available through Xlibris, this children’s book shares lessons of friendship, helpfulness and gratitude.

From the very first page, readers are introduced to a cast of remarkable leprechauns: Judge Custodio O’Donnell, his law clerk Blackstone O’Grady and the Judge’s very black cats, Mootly and Smartly. The story begins as the leprechauns, in a rented German car, drive through the Black Forest to see the Fall colors. Along the way, Blackstone O’Grady suffers an unfortunate mishap.

Distraught, the Judge decides to call some of his friends to help solve Blackstone O’Grady’s present situation. Arriving in the blink of an eye, Michael O’Hara and his friends hear the Judge’s tale of woe and offer their advice. Will their advice bring Blackstone O’Grady back to health?

Aside from the story’s main plot, the author skillfully interweaves interesting subplots into the tale as well. Readers will meet Professor Fintan O’Rourke and find, that in addition to being a learned professor, he’s also an excellent cook. The story also introduces the concept that leprechauns are very much a part of our everyday world. Vibrantly illustrated, Michael O’Hara and Friends to the Rescue is a perfect tool for parent-child bonding. Its charming characters and engaging storyline will fuel children’s imaginations and leave them in possession of valuable life lessons.
