David Lloyd Leisure, Europe’s premier sports, health and leisure group is launching Bokwa – the latest dance fitness craze – at clubs nationwide in September.
The unique dance fitness programme, which combines footwork based on the alphabet and numbers as well as hand signals and American sign language, will be available at all David Lloyd clubs and Harbour clubs.
Bokwa is a fun, energetic class that helps you achieve your fitness goals, and have fun doing it. An intense cardiovascular workout with moves from South African war dance, Capoeira, kickboxing and step, it has been developed by creator Paul Mavi, who has been working with David Lloyd Leisure to introduce the programme to members.
Rob Beale, David Lloyd Leisure’s head of sports, health and fitness, said: “We are extremely excited to be launching Bokwa for our members. We are always looking to develop our timetables and provide new innovative classes and activities for our members. Bokwa is a fun, energetic class and we can certainly see how it will help our members achieve their goals, and have fun doing it!”
Paul Mavi commented: “We sweat the alphabet, we dance the digits. If you can move and you can spell, you can Bokwa.
“Bokwa is simple to learn, but extremely energetic; there are very few workouts that will burn up to 1300 calories and there are very few workouts that are more addictive. Come to David Lloyd, try it once and you will be hooked."
