CME Outfitters Medical Program Director Monique Johnson, MD, CCMEP and Thomas Roth, PhD, Presented a Sleep-Wake Disorders Educational Effectiveness and Needs Assessment Study at the 26th Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, LLC—A Joint Meeting of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society

CME Outfitters, LLC, a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, celebrates a successful poster presentation at the Annual SLEEP Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, LLC. This year’s 26th Annual SLEEP Meeting was held in Boston, MA, June 9-13, 2012. Monique Johnson, MD, CCMEP, Medical Program Director at CME Outfitters, LLC and Thomas Roth, PhD, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and head of the Division of Sleep Disorders Medicine at University of Michigan/Henry Ford Health System, presented a poster that reported key findings from an educational effectiveness study.

The poster, entitled "CME on Excessive Sleepiness and Sleep-Wake Disorders Can Address Gaps in Clinical Knowledge and Competence," was based on a 2011 CME activity aimed at primary care physicians. The goal of the activity was to improve detection of excessive sleepiness and diagnosis and management of sleep-wake disorders. The 2011 sleep-wake educational initiative was supported by an educational grant from Teva Pharmaceuticals, formerly known as Cephalon. As previously reported, the study's results showed that the CME activity resulted in participants’ increased awareness of impact, triggers, and frequency of assessment of sleep–wake disorders and high levels of learner commitment to increase use of validated questionnaires and to increase referrals for sleep consults. “It was an honor to present these educational findings alongside Dr. Thomas Roth at the 2012 SLEEP Meeting this year,” said Dr. Johnson, “Conference participants seemed genuinely intrigued by our findings, and the questions and feedback we received was incredible. I believe this opportunity gave CME Outfitters an edge in reaching our goal to improve clinical behavior…one change at a time.”
