Rockville, MD, August 14, 2012 (PRWEB) August 14, 2012
FileTek, Inc., a leading global provider of large-scale data management, Big Data Storage virtualization, and active archive solutions, today announced that Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, a group of three major British hospitals that provide outstanding healthcare services across Worcestershire and beyond, has evaluated, selected, and implemented a comprehensive StorHouse active archive system to secure, protect, and provide access to expanding clinical information assets, including picture archive and communications system (PACS) data. As the active archive platform of choice, StorHouse is the key component of a complete Data Management, Secure Archive, and SAN Expansion project delivered to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust by Cristie Data Limited as a managed service agreement. Cristie, which recommended implementing StorHouse as part of a wider data management strategy, has been supplying storage, backup, and virtualization solutions to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust for approximately 10 years. Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has deployed StorHouse across three hospitals, Alexandra, Kidderminster, and Worcestershire Royal, with primary and backup data stored at Worcestershire and Kidderminster.
“Having secure storage and assured access to PACS-related images is a major part of our commitment to providing outstanding care to the patient communities we serve,” commented Peter Lowe, Centralized IT Services Manager for Worcestershire Health IT Services. “To ensure this commitment, we were looking for a cost-effective way to store our growing volume of PACS data while safeguarding its security, availability, and accessibility for the long-term. Going live with our new secure archive managed service and StorHouse active archive platform enables us to meet these important enterprise objectives.”
“FileTek’s primary goal is to ensure customers achieve data assurance and access at the lowest possible cost per terabyte of storage,” remarked Ann Dyball, European Channel Manager, at FileTek. “And the StorHouse deployment at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust remains true to this mission. With StorHouse as the active archive infrastructure of its new secure archive managed service, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust can reduce IT costs, lower system administration and operational overhead, and eliminate timely restores by re-acquiring all PACS data in real-time directly from StorHouse using existing applications – all while continuing to deliver leading-edge patient care.”
StorHouse is a hardware-independent, multi-functional software platform that automatically stores, validates, retrieves, backs up, archives, and manages terabytes to zettabytes of file-based and relational information on a single, easy-to-access system. It intelligently blends disk and tape as part of a scaled-out NAS environment while providing an intelligent active archive strategy for Big Data. Because StorHouse abstracts hardware, users see a single unified global namespace rather than specific device types so that SSD, JBOD, RAID, MAID, and tape, including LTO varieties, all look like one unlimited storage pool. In addition, by storing data in native rather than proprietary file format, StorHouse eliminates the need for formal restore procedures. Instead, users have self-service access to StorHouse-managed data at any time without IT intervention. No application interfaces or changes to existing applications are required.
