Delmarva's commitment to excellence in delivery and safe operations led them to consider proactive approaches to better monitor its electricity transmission lines and grid infrastructure. We are pleased they choose Activu. Paul Noble, Activu CEO

Activu® Corporation, a leading provider of IP-based intelligent visualization and collaboration solutions for mission-critical command and control center environments, is pleased to announce that it recently added Delmarva Power to its growing list of utility customers.

Delmarva Power is an energy utility that delivers safe and reliable service to 501,000 electricity customers in Delaware and the Delmarva Peninsula located between Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean on the eastern seaboard. Delmarva also provides safe, reliable and affordable natural gas to over 124,000 homes and businesses in New Castle County, Delaware.

“Delmarva Power has an enviable track record of safety and delivering the highest quality of services to its customers while conducting its business responsibly and protecting the health and safety of its employees, customers, the general public and the environment. This commitment to excellence in delivery and safe operations led Delmarva Power to consider proactive approaches to better monitor its electricity transmission lines and grid infrastructure. We are very pleased that Delmarva Power ultimately chose Activu’s Intelligent Visualization and Collaboration as its Command and Control Room solution,” said Activu CEO, Paul Noble.

Delmarva Power operates in the state of Maryland, the Delmarva Peninsula and surrounding regions along the northeastern seaboard. Geographically, this area often sees extreme weather conditions such as severe thunderstorms with high winds and heavy rains that knock down trees, power lines. Utility poles, and lightning strikes that spark fires destroying homes and property.

While Delmarva Power has a strong record of operational safety and largely uninterrupted supply, its electricity transmission infrastructure is naturally impacted by severe weather events. As a result, Delmarva Power decided to proactively monitor its electric grid networks in real-time at a centralized Command and Control Center for Transmission Line Monitoring that also doubles as an Emergency Management Center in crisis situations. To improve the safety of its transmission lines, reduce outage and down times and improve situational awareness, Delmarva wanted a flexible visualization and collaboration solution that easily integrated with Delmarva’s existing network operating system and software, gives field technicians the ability to send real-time data back to the control room, was cost effective and could accommodate Delmarva’s future expansion needs.

Activu’s IP-based solution, TeamShare and Mobility modules, design, engineering and systems integration capabilities, experience with utility clients, and flexible service and support options were instrumental in winning this project.

This win reaffirms the benefits of Activu’s integrated platform and design, customization and implementation service offerings for utility customers.
