On August 15th, 2012, modern baby bedding manufacturer Argington responded to a recently published article that discussed the modernization and versatility of the old standard cloth diaper while still eschewing the disposable diaper.
As reported on Inquirer.net, there are many benefits of using modern cloth diapers, in addition to the wide variety of colors and patterns that are available. The article credits Jen CC Tang as being at the forefront of the modern cloth diaper revolution, saying that, “the waterproof textiles of these cloth diapers are safe, manmade synthetics and environment-friendly. The liners/inserts are made of organic fabrics like cotton, bamboo, charcoal, fleece, hemp, microfiber, suede, linen.”
Argington spokesperson Clay Darrohn thinks that the return to modern cloth diapers is a positive trend. He says, “In addition to the economic considerations for the cloth diapers, there are environmental facets as well. Not only are you reducing waste by not throwing out hundreds of dirty diapers but you are also helping to safeguard your baby from potentially harmful chemicals.”
The Inquirer further states that “there’s the assurance of nothing toxic in them, especially for babies with sensitive skin. The diapers today not only come in plain or solid colors, but also in prints of rockets, butterflies, bears, alphabets, flowers and more. Consumers have not been adequately warned that disposable diapers contain carcinogenic by-products like plastic, dioxin or a gel-like substance that expands and absorbs wetness.” With the versatility offered by modern cloth diapers and the issues surrounding disposable diapers, the trend should certainly gain steam among the environmentally-conscious mothers out there.
