Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 11, 2012
The Syrian American Council (SAC) today announced the launching a new chapter in Dallas, Texas. SAC is the largest Syrian-American organization that advocates for freedom, dignity and democracy in Syria with currently 19 chapters across the U.S. The new chapter will be led by Mr. Ghassan Hitto as president of the Dallas chapter.
“SAC is pleased to announce the launching of a chapter in Dallas in an effort to reach out and engage the Dallas community in our work to support the freedom revolution in Syria,” said SAC Chairman Dr. Mahmoud Khattab.
SAC has become the leading American organization dedicated to promoting human and civil rights in Syria. During the past eighteen months, SAC has witnessed a significant increase in the number of chapters and activities as a result of the Syrian-American community’s desire to support the revolution against the dictatorial Assad regime in Syria, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 22,000 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
“As Texans, we are proud to join forces with other Syrian-Americans nationwide under the banner of SAC to step up our local community’s efforts in supporting freedom and democracy in Syria,” said Dr. Ahmad Kayyas, founder of the Dallas chapter of SAC. “We have a critical task ahead of us and we are proud to work in unity with Syrian-Americans in other parts of the country to assist our Syrian brothers’ and sisters’ struggle for freedom.”
