Columbus, OH: Gordon Evans II, an Attorney at The Donahey Law Firm, won the largest amateur boxing tournament in the country, which took place in Kansas City, Missouri. Evans competed in the masters heavyweight division in the 35 years and above age group. This was the second title for Evans in the past three years which has made the Columbus, Ohio resident a notable figure at the Ringside Boxing Inc. sponsored event.
Nearly 5,000 fighters competed for titles in various divisions. Evans defeated a 6’4, 260 lb. opponent via unanimous decision. “It was a tough fight, but I was able to execute my game and was the aggressor the entire time,” said Evans.
Gordon Evans not only fights heavyweight opponents in the boxing ring, for a profession he also fights on injured people’s behalf in the court room to obtain fair compensation for their pain and suffering. “In many ways trying cases is very much like a boxing match – the only difference is that instead of using your fists, you use your wits,” stated Evans. “However, boxing is very much a thinking man’s sport, while litigation requires that same willingness to get in the court room and mix it up. You have to have intelligence, guts and heart to do either.”
Evans was contemplating not competing in this year’s tournament after he broke his nose in seven places during a sparring session. “Getting ready for this tournament was harder, and the recovery time took longer, but having my hand raised at the end made it all that much sweeter.”
About The Donahey Law Firm:
As one of the oldest personal injury firms in Central Ohio, the personal injury attorneys at The Donahey Law Firm have been fighting for equal justice for injured people for over three decades. When founding partner Dick Donahey created The Donahey Law Firm, few law firms specialized exclusively in the rights and claims for injured individuals. Many firms focused on corporate law, but few were willing to take the chance that The Donahey Law Firm did: to work for their clients on a contingency-only basis, in order to represent injured individuals who were often unable to pay large, up-front legal fees.
