The record level of company formation in the last quarter proves Basingstoke has a sound economic base, and I’ve no doubt it will continue to grow and develop in years to come.

Basingstoke: Hampshire town, Basingstoke has experienced a record Q2 for number of company formations. There have been 202 business start-ups, beating the previous record of 196 set in Q2 of 2010.
Basingstoke began life as a market town, but expanded during the 1960’s when it was rapidly developed to accommodate part of the London “overspill”. The town is now an economic centre in its own right, hosting headquarters to many large organisations including the AA, GAME and ST Ericsson.
The borough’s population is predicted to grow from 157,000 to 177,000 over the next 20 years and the council have developed the “Central Basingstoke Vision” in order to adapt the town accordingly. The plan seeks to build on the popularity of the town centre as shopping location and promote a “day out experience” by enhancing its vitality, accessibility, character and appearance.

“The record level of company formation in the last quarter proves Basingstoke has a sound economic base, and I’ve no doubt it will continue to grow and develop in years to come. The local council clearly have an eye on the future and are planning to keep the town moving in the right direction.”
With such positive signs of growth and a dynamic plan for the next 20 years, it’s no surprise that Basingstoke is becoming increasingly popular with business start-ups.
