Our website will be a source of information on cooking as well as ALS news and resources. In fact, we hope to become the Paul Newman’s for ALS.”
Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) August 14, 2012
Constance Griffith, President & CEO, is pleased to announce the launch of Gator Ron's Zesty Sauces & Mixes, a gourmet sauce business that, in its first phase, will market Gator Ron’s Heavenly Barbeque Sauce (Original and Chipotle), Gator Ron’s Angel Wing Sauce (Original and Spicy), and Gator Ron’s Divine Bloody Mary Mix (Original and Chesapeake). All products are made with all natural ingredients, are free of gluten, are low in calories, and are accompanied by easy, healthy recipes for preparation. Gator Ron’s products will be available through http://www.gatorrons.com; in addition, it will be sold at the Bethesda Central Farmers Market in Bethesda Maryland every other Sunday beginning August 5, at Grosvenor Market in Rockville, Maryland, and at the Chevy Chase Supermarket in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Please check periodically with the website for updates on stores, events, farmers markets, and online sites for additional future locations that will carry the products. A percentage of all sales will be donated to The Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins.
Connie’s husband, Ron Griffith, created his sauces and mixes over decades of trial and error, perfecting the textures, flavors, and uniqueness of each product. He was investigating bringing them to market when, in 2007, he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). As his full-time caregiver, Connie, a former medical administrator, learned from Ron how to make each sauce exactly the way that Ron intended them to be made. When he died in November 2011, Connie made the decision to establish Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes, bring them to market, and fulfill Ron’s dream while raising money for ALS research.
“I am so delighted that this is coming to fruition,” said Connie. “Ron would be very proud, and so excited about sharing his delicious recipes with food lovers everywhere. The sauces are truly unique and versatile, and can be adapted into numerous healthy recipes. I hope to grow this business into a community for moms that cook, foodies, guys that grill, tailgaters (or as we say, tailgatorers), people with food allergies, people who loves sauces, and those who have been touched by ALS. Our website will be a source of information on cooking as well as ALS news and resources. In fact, we hope to become the Paul Newman’s for ALS.”
Connie’s partner, Debbie Kaufmann, is also enthusiastic about the future of Gator Ron’s. “Ron’s and Connie’s friends and relatives were constantly requesting the sauces,” said Debbie, Vice President of Public Relations & Communications. “We are confident that food lovers everywhere will enjoy the taste and textures of Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes, and will find the accompanying recipes healthy, easy, and fast. And knowing that every bottle purchased will help fund ALS research, we feel that Ron, in his way, orchestrated this to happen.”
Ron’s father also died of ALS, as did Debbie’s father –in-law. A third partner, Steve Paderofsky, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, lost his father and aunt to the disease, so all are very passionate about helping fund research to find treatments, and ultimately a cure, for ALS. The website will enable people to order products, obtain recipes, find stores and farmers markets that carry the products, learn about charitable events, post names and photos of those they love that have been affected by ALS, and connect with ALS organizations.
About Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes
Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes were created by Ron Griffith, who after years of receiving requests from friends and relatives, began to look into manufacturing and selling the sauces so that food lovers everywhere could enjoy them. Ron’s dream came to a screeching halt when, in 2007, he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). During his long battle with ALS, Ron taught his wife, Connie Griffith, how to make his sauces and mixes ensuring that she could replicate them exactly, preserving the flavor, texture and integrity of each. When Ron died in November 2011, Connie made the decision to fulfill his dream by establishing Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes. A percentage of all sales will be donated to the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins. For more information, please visit http://www.gatorrons.com.
