Trophy ’12 Golf Tournament Held at La Romana Country Club

Occidental Hotels and Resorts (Madrid), recently held its seventh annual Golf Tournament, Trophy ’12 Golf Tournament. The Tournament is part of the world renowned Central American Inter-Club Golf Tournament which is played in locales such as Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua to name a few. Each year the Golf Channel follows the event which features some of the top amateur players in the world.

Executives, diplomats and friends of Occidental Hotels, gathered under the Caribbean sun at the beautiful La Romana Country Club located in Santo Domingo the Pete Dye designed course saw over a hundred golfers take to the links to test their skills. The enthusiastic athletes also attended a Gala event where a lucky golfer was the winner of a week at the Dye Villas, an exclusive hotel which is part of the RCI Registry Collection in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The prize was donated by RCI and Occidental Vacation Club.

This is the 7th “Occidental Trophy 12” Golf Tournament, which is part of the Infogolf America International Circuit which began in 1998. It includes 25 different sites in Latin American countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. The event is being shown on Sunday afternoons on the Golf Channel Latin America.

“We were glad to be co-sponsors once again,” said Luis Namnum, President of Occidental Vacation Club. “125 players participated and the course proved challenging and terrifically satisfying at the same time. Each year the event grows and it’s always a great time. We were especially grateful to RCI for donating one of the top prizes.”
The function was organized by Occidental Vacation Club’s parent company. Occidental Vacation Club itself has resorts located in Aruba, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, and Mexico. There are more than 23,000 members at 11 all-inclusive resorts.
