Webinars explain and demonstrate the features of Professional Learning Communities

The U.S. Department of Education has declared August to be Connected Educators Month, and to help schools and districts reap the professional learning rewards of their online communities and learning networks, Evans Newton Inc. (ENI), a leading provider in professional development, curriculum and instruction, coaching and school transformation, and Saywire, the creator of the award-winning social learning platform of the same name, are co-hosting two webinars this month. Scheduled for Fri., Aug. 17 at noon EST and Wed., Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. EST, the “Essential Tools for Optimizing Professional Learning Communities” webinars will explain and demonstrate the technology features of professional learning communities (PLC) that enable educators to become lifelong learners.

Josh Hoover, chief technology officer of Saywire, will cohost the webinars and showcase the features and capabilities of the Saywire® online application. He will explain how to use the knowledge sharing platform’s built-in tools to create engaging individual, group and project-based learning activities for blended, distance and virtual learning communities of any size.

Carole Everhart, ENI’s director of professional learning, coaching and virtual implementation, will demonstrate how the company uses Saywire’s technology in its TargetPLC® system. She will explain how the resulting virtual professional learning networks (PLN) allow for action-oriented professional development, online collaboration and sharing, plus the reflection and feedback necessary for ongoing professional growth. Webinar attendees will also learn how to create a PLN with the application and how teachers can use the same format to provide networking capabilities for their students.
