What if pets could talk to each other? Author Maureen Ferraro explores this fun possibility in a delightful picture book. In Sugar and Elsa: The Mystery, young readers can follow two sisters who discover that there are more to their pets than meets the eye.

Sisters Amy and Kim love their two pets, Sugar the dog and Elsa the cat. They have been arguing whether or not their two pets can talk to each other. The younger one, Kim, believes that Sugar and Elsa do—especially the way they look at each other and seem to communicate. Perhaps they communicate by reading each other’s minds. This will be put to the test one stormy day when Amy and Kim, together with their parents, leave the house for the mall.

Sugar and Elsa are left at home. They have trouble sleeping because of the loud thunder. When the lights suddenly go out, they become really scared. To make matters worse, a mysterious sound makes them even more frightened. Will Sugar and Elsa find the courage to find out what this sound is, or will their fear overpower them? Sugar and Elsa: The Mystery is sure to keep parents and their young ones captivated from beginning to end as they unravel the answer.
