Live Action Role-playing (LARP) is spreading across the world and quickly becoming a part of the American way.

Realm of LARP, an original YouTube series on the Nerdist premium channel, joins the ranks of American media letting the general public in on the secret world of live action role-playing. Much like a live version of Dungeons and Dragons, LARPing has quickly become the third most enjoyed pastime in Denmark. The only more popular activities are soccer and handball. Europe, Russia, Asia, New Zealand, and Australia are also teaming with LARPing groups. Finally, the United States is joining the party.

Television and Film have featured LARPing prominently in U.S. productions such as the 2008 film “Role Models” and the forthcoming “Knights of Badassdom” starring Game of Throne’s Peter Dinklage. While these narrative portrayals give viewers an insight into the phenomenon, Realm of Larp is one of the first looks at a complete event from beginning to end in a documentary format. The films, “Monster Camp” and “Darkon” were both non-fiction accounts of the LARP experience and were each well received at festivals. Realm of LARP has been said to convey what it is like to actually participate in a LARP rather than taking looking on from the outskirts.

Visual effects and a rousing score help put the viewer in the players’ shoes and convey the epic journey that is LARP. More information can be found at

Realm of LARP is produced by Supreme Robot Pictures, LLC and distributed by The Nerdist Channel, a premium YouTube Channel. Supreme Robot Pictures previous works have been featured at the South by Southwest Film Festival and on Comedy Central. Realm of LARP was created by Victor Varnado.
