It is an oft-repeated adage of modern life that ‘you can’t have everything’. Yet for June Cadzow, the founder of and creative brains behind The Biggest Blanket Company, this simply isn’t good enough.

Recently June Cadzow approached KD Web to create a new website for her product range, which will be launched over the coming months, however through many a discussion with June, KD Web where not only overwhelmed by the vast selection and range of high quality, affordable goods, The Biggest Blanket Company has to offer, but what June told us about what drove her to get where she is today!

Since she designed the first samples in 2003, June has refused to compromise on this commitment to ‘having everything’, and today The Biggest Blanket Company is flourishing under this philosophy.

You see, The Biggest Blanket Company puts to bed all the assumptions you may have about blankets, or even about woollen goods in general. Namely, it’s pretty cool. While there are certainly enough historical references in the designs and quality materials to keep the traditionalist happy, June was determined to make sure that her company was built around more than this.

By marrying cutting-edge, exclusive design to the very best in quality textiles, June has pulled blankets and throws into the 21st century in the very best possible way. To make things even better, The Biggest Blanket Company also offer a collection of luxury sleepwear as well as a new cashmere line of throws, jackets, scarves and accessories under the label ‘Turnbull Cashmere’.

As June says, ‘I’m always working to make sure we keep ahead of the trends, and we’re constantly renewing our stock to try to stay at the front-line of design thinking. This is one of the best things about running an independent brand,I really can let the design lead the way!’

Having grown from its beginnings in rural Northumberland, The Biggest Blanket Company now operates through its website, a presence at selected trade events and, since 2011, its flagship store on Pimlico Road, London. ‘Opening the shop was a pivotal moment for The Biggest Blanket Company. It’s right in the heart of the Ebury Square interiors hub, so we’ve been doing more and more work with a lot of London-based interior decorators, which has been fantastic’, says June.

So is the work she does with trade customers the most rewarding? When this is suggested, June is quick to disagree. ‘From my background of studying at Central St Martins and working for ready-to-wear fashion labels, this side of the business is definitely something I feel comfortable with’, explains June. ‘But I don’t think that there is anything more satisfying than the interest we get from individuals, who want to find something special to add some softness or a bit of glorious colour to their home. All our products, whether it’s the throws or ruanas or anything else, make brilliant presents too, and I love hearing about how happy people are when they’ve been given them!’

“So there it is, a sneak peek at what makes June Cadzow, and The Biggest Blanket Company, tick. The marriage of cutting-edge design and indulgent materials, the alliance of rural Northumberland and Pimlico Road, and the vibrant mix of working with professional interior designers and stylish home-owners .As June mentioned earlier, maybe you can have everything after all.”
