CowParade features life-sized cow sculptures painted and transformed by local artists. At the conclusion of the event, the cow masterpieces are sold at auction for the benefit of local non-profit organizations. The beneficiary of CowParade North Carolina 2012 is North Carolina Children’s Hospital at UNC.
“We are proud to be a sponsor of this important event, which benefits such a worthy organization,” said Patent Attorney Tara Williams, who heads the firm’s social-services committee. “We look forward to the unveiling or our sponsored cow and hope that it will raise a lot of money at auction to help support the Children’s Hospital.”
A local artist has been chosen to create the cow sculpture sponsored by the firm, and it will be unveiled at the CowParade NC Round Up on Saturday, August 18. The more than 80 cows will then go “on parade” starting Sunday, August 19, with the installation of the first herd in Raleigh. The Chapel Hill and Durham herds will be installed on August 20 and 21.
The cows will be on display through the first week of December and will later be auctioned off at a gala event on January 26, 2013, to raise money for North Carolina Children’s Hospital.
North Carolina Children’s Hospital is the exclusive beneficiary of CowParade North Carolina 2012. The hospital protects the health of North Carolina’s 2.1 million children by providing quality medical care regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Since its inception in 1999, CowParade has raised over $30 million for charities in over 75 cities worldwide. It is the largest and most successful public art event in the world.
