Mitt Romney announces his running mate for his presidential campaign on August 11. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Senator, was chosen.

On Saturday, August 11, 2012, Mitt Romney introduced Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) as his vice presidential nominee during the first stop of his four-day bus tour. Paul Ryan, forty-two years old, is the chairman of the House Budget Committee. During his speech, Romney made a joke about making mistakes every once in a while before following up with “But I did not make a mistake with this guy,” in reference to Ryan. Media outlets, including Boston.com, are calling Romney’s choice a bold move. Rob Portman, Chris Christie and Marco Rubio were some of the other individuals who were thought to have a shot as being selected as a running mate.
