LiveCitizen, a social debate site focused on politics and current events, announced today the start of “fix*us: Be the Solution” contest to provide citizens an opportunity to offer their solutions to the nation’s problems. The participants with the winning solutions will receive up to $5000 to donate to the charities of their choice. Fix*us will begin on August 13th at 12pm (PST) and will end on October 31st at 12pm (PST).
“Fix*us is an answer to the need to create a social movement that helps the public realize that the voice of citizens do matter and that average citizens can offer solutions required of even the president to solve problems in this country. We want everyone’s input as to how to steer this country in the right direction,” says Hideki Kishioka, Executive Director.
Fix*us will focus on five topics ranging from the economy and healthcare to pressing social issues such as gay marriage and marijuana legalization. Participants are encouraged to give their best solutions within 360 characters or less which they can enter here. Once solutions are posted, they are open to the public vote that will determine the winners. There will be one winner for each topic and each winner will receive $1000 to donate to the charity of their choice. Winners will be announced on November 13, 2012.
