Jay-Z fans made it clear, even before the 2012 Jay-Z concert tickets went on sale in July for his fall Brooklyn concert series, that the legendary rap star would have to schedule a few more shows. The original billing was for three shows on September 28, 29 and 30. But 24 hours before the tickets even went on sale, Jay-Z announced two more shows slated for October 3 and 4. The additional tickets didn’t seem to matter as the shows sold out in less than 12 minutes.
So the rapper did what any artist would do, he added three more shows. But those sold out as quickly as the first five. Many fans were able to score the coveted concert tickets but many were left in the dark.
Disappointed fans voiced their opinions on forums from Twitter to Facebook with posts like “Ticketmster is a joke” and “Couldn’t get tix to any of the 8 jay-z shows, big surprise eh?” But CheapSeatsTickets.com owner Matthew Brenner says despite the sold out billing, seats are still available.
“The secondary market always has a selection of tickets to any show, from Jay-Z to One Direction, Justin Bieber to Neil Diamond,” noted Brenner. “It’s definitely frustrating for the fans that anticipate the big sale date [from Ticketmaster] but they still have options.”
We checked into the secondary market and saw seats in just about every section
of the arena at prices ranging from under one hundred dollars per ticket to prices into the thousands. Brenner expects those numbers to change over the next month.
“Brokers are always going to have access to tickets but the volume for Jay-Z is unusually high,” Brenner indicated. “High volume usually means prices can drop as ticket holders get scared. But many fans want their tickets in hand so they can start solidifying travel plans and that’s why we’re offering free shipping for a limited time.”
Fans who purchase Jay-Z tickets from CheapSeatsTickets.com can receive free shipping just by using the code CARTER for a limited time. And that prices the site below most of its competitors on the web.
It should be an amazing concert as Jay-Z opens at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the same stage as what will host the 2012 Brooklyn Nets, which the rapper is a part-owner.
