Lowndes County Board of Commissioners unanimously approves 100% handicap accessible community.

On August 14, 2012, the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Jason Bailey’s proposed 100% wheelchair accessible community. J.B. Home Construction LLC, a Jason Bailey company, will be the developer of 22 duplex units next to Fred’s Super Dollar on Bemiss Road in Valdosta, Georgia.

Units will feature A.D.A. approved stoves, showers, and doorways. Each unit will have three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Upgrades will include raised panel cabinets with granite counter tops and tile backsplashes. A special feature of the parking lot will include wheelchair access from any location to the occupant’s front doorway. Special door thresholds will ensure ease of access by a wheelchair. The completion date is expected to be February 2013.

RentValdosta.com, another Jason Bailey company, is now accepting early applications from households with wheelchair bound members, Disabled Veterans and those receiving 100% Social Security disability. Rent is expected to be $795 per month. Current active duty military members are encouraged to apply and will be considered after the above needs of the community have been met.
