Deal To Set Foundation For Brighton Studio Growth

NaturalMotion, a leading developer and publisher of high-end mobile social games, today announced that it has acquired Boss Alien Ltd, a games development company based in Brighton, England.

Boss Alien was founded by former Disney Black Rock executives Jason Avent and Tim Swan and has worked exclusively on NaturalMotion Games properties, including the worldwide chart-topping hit CSR Racing on iOS.

The deal will secure the development talent behind CSR Racing and set the foundation for aggressive studio growth in Brighton, already a well-known base for exceptional creative talent in the United Kingdom.

“We’ve been working with Jason and Tim since the beginning of Boss Alien and are thrilled to expand our collaboration with this acquisition,” said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion. “CSR Racing is just one of the exciting properties we are working on together, and its success is testament to the power of combining the best console development talent with NaturalMotion’s deep free-to-play game design insights.”

“The entire team is excited to be joining NaturalMotion as we share the vision of creating amazing games that reach millions of people.” said Jason Avent, CEO of Boss Alien. “We are very proud of what we've achieved together with CSR Racing to date and now we're focused on growing our studio in Brighton. We want developers with exceptional talent to come and join our world-class team.”

Since its launch on June 28, CSR Racing has become the #1 Top Grossing App in the USA, UK and dozens of other countries. It was the only game shown onstage at Apple’s 2012 WWDC keynote.

Boss Alien’s Brighton base will be NaturalMotion’s forth studio location, joining Oxford, London and San Francisco. Recruitment applications can be made at http://www.naturalmotiongames.com and http://www.bossalien.com
